October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Next to skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 240,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. More than 40,000 actually die from the disease.
These are sobering statistics!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and here at Noel Furniture and Noel Home, we want to remind you that early detection may be the key to saving your life. Like you, we all have loved ones or friends who have faced this devastating disease. It affects us all.

A mammogram is the best method of detection. If you are 45 – 54, the American Cancer Society recommends that you get one every year. After 55 – every one to two years. When was your last mammogram? Let Breast Cancer Awareness Month serve as an annual reminder to make that appointment.

There are lots of great organizations doing amazing work toward eradicating breast cancer – American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen, National Breast Cancer Foundation to name a few. An important step to defeating this disease is education. Learn the facts and symptoms, and explore the in-depth resources these organizations have made available online.

Show your support for the brave warriors currently facing this battle, as well as the many survivors. Wear pink ribbons, donate to research, encourage your loved ones to get mammograms, participate in walks and events, and reach out to those affected by this difficult disease. Together we can fight this!
